Netflix is officially greenlighting a live-action series based on the classic Scooby-Doo! franchise. The show will feature a young cast portraying Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, and Velma. A collaboration between Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, and Midnight Radio, the show will be led by showrunners Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg.
The plot is centered on the gang’s final summer at camp, where they meet a lonely Great Dane puppy. The dog becomes a key witness to a mysterious supernatural murder, drawing the teens into a terrifying investigation. The series is described as a modern reimagining that blends mystery, friendship, and supernatural suspense.
The series will consist of eight hour-long episodes. The project is currently known as Scooby-Doo! The Live-Action Series, though a final title may be different. Filming, originally scheduled for fall 2025, has been pushed back. The new target for production is early 2026.
This new series is one of Netflix’s most anticipated projects, promising a fresh perspective on the beloved characters. The youthful cast is expected to bring a new energy to the roles. Fans are particularly excited about the casting of the young Great Dane who will play Scooby, as the dog is central to the storyline.
