Indonesia and Serbia have reached an agreement to enhance bilateral cooperation across several sectors, including trade, industrial development, food and energy security, and emerging technologies. This agreement was solidified during the fifth Bilateral Consultation Forum held in Jakarta, where both countries outlined their commitment to strengthening ties.

In a bid to further their economic collaboration, Indonesia extended an invitation to Serbia to explore opportunities in mineral exploration, nickel processing, and electric vehicle supply chains. Discussions also delved into potential partnerships in artificial intelligence, data centers, semiconductors, and digital transformation, highlighting the technological ambitions of both nations.

Trade between Indonesia and Serbia has been on an upward trajectory, growing by an average of 20.62% annually from 2021 to 2025, and is expected to reach $53.6 million in 2025. To build on this momentum, both countries agreed to explore the possibility of a free trade agreement and to establish a joint economic commission aimed at expanding trade and improving access to Central and Eastern European markets.

The bilateral talks also addressed investment opportunities, industrial production, and employment cooperation. A significant point of discussion was the exploration of government-to-government arrangements to enhance the legal protection of Indonesian migrant workers in Serbia, reflecting a commitment to improving labor relations.

During the forum, both nations reaffirmed their commitment to upholding sovereignty and territorial integrity. Looking ahead, Indonesia and Serbia have agreed to hold the sixth Bilateral Consultation Forum in Serbia, with the date yet to be announced, signaling a continued dedication to fostering their partnership.
