Serbia’s U20 men’s basketball team has advanced to the FIBA U20 EuroBasket final following a 72-65 victory over Spain, marking their first return to the championship game since they last secured the title in 2015. The Serbian team showcased a commanding performance, particularly in the first half, where their robust defense and precise scoring allowed them to establish a significant double-digit advantage.
As the game progressed, Serbia extended their lead to 18 points during the third quarter. However, Spain launched a determined comeback effort, narrowing the gap to just three points. Despite this challenge, Serbia maintained their composure, with pivotal defensive maneuvers and a key three-pointer from Šuput ensuring their place in the final.
Andrej Lučić was instrumental for Serbia, leading the team with 20 points, while Mitar Bošnjaković contributed significantly with 17 points. Nikola Džepina also made a notable impact on the game, recording 12 points, five rebounds, four assists, and five blocks, underscoring Serbia’s all-around strength on the court.
The team is now set to compete against Slovenia, the host nation, in the final round of the tournament. As Serbia prepares for this decisive matchup, they carry the momentum of a well-fought victory and the experience of having been in the finals previously, aiming to reclaim the championship title they last held eight years ago.
