Authorities in Spain’s Andalucia region have intensified weather warnings, elevating an orange rain alert for several inland areas within Almeria and Malaga provinces due to ongoing severe weather conditions. The heightened alert, indicating a significant level of danger, now includes the Valle del Almanzora and Los Velez areas of Almeria, as well as the Antequera district in Malaga.
This updated warning, which took effect at 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, replaces the previous yellow-level warnings issued in these regions. The forecast predicts heavy rainfall to persist through Thursday night, prompting officials to advise residents to exercise caution and adhere to local emergency and weather guidance.
Particularly intense rainfall is anticipated in parts of Almeria’s Levante area, where higher-level weather alerts had already been established. These conditions underscore the importance of remaining vigilant as the severe weather continues to affect the region.
